Reading personal correspondence, espionage, surveillance

Dr. 'Abdurahman ibn 'Abdullah, may Allah preserve him, said: "And it is also impossible to follow the conversations and correspondence of others on the Internet, since Allah Almighty said:

( وَلاَ تَجَسَّسُوا ) "... and watch out for each other" (Surah room: 12), because it is the surveillance of the fact that the person hides from others and also, it is identifying what they hid and wish to maintain, and what I do not want to see people. On the contrary, "whoever looks into someone else's house without the permission of the owners, they are allowed to knock out an eye," as Muslim reported, and they should not compensate for the damage. Espionage is punishable at the discretion of judges, since there is no prescribed punishment for it, and punishments at the discretion of judges can be different. "

It is reported from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, climbed the minbar, then, loudly proclaiming, said:

"O those who have accepted Islam verbally, and faith has not strengthened in their hearts! Do not harm Muslims, and do not reproach them, and do not watch over their shortcomings, truly whoever watches over the shortcomings of his Muslim brother, Allah will watch over his shortcomings, and whoever Allah watched over, He will reveal his shortcomings, even if he hides at home."

at-Tirmizi (1955), and Albani considered it authentic in Sahih at-Tirmizi.

Sharh

Al-Mubarakfuri, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"And don't watch out for their flaws." Here we mean behind the flaws that you do not know, and do not identify the flaws that you know. "Allah will watch over his shortcomings," that is, He will reveal his (the one who watched) shortcomings, and one of the most disgusting shortcomings is to watch over the shortcomings of his Muslim brother and the identification of this defect will be on the Day of Judgment. "And the one whom Allah has been watching, He will reveal his flaws," that is, He will reveal his bad traits. "Even if he hides at home," that is, even if he hides from people in his house."
